Access your full potential

I have been involved in the performance world for over 20 years. During the pandemic, I completed my MSc in Performance Science and trained as a coach with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am now accredited at Practitioner Level (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) and have also completed Foundation Level team coach training through the EMCC with David Clutterbuck.

My coaching brings together the different strands of my experience and knowledge, which I am continually expanding.  My approach is empathetic and thoughtful, aiming to encourage and support my clients to not only find new insight or perspective, but to take action in the direction of their goals, whether personal or professional.

Training as a coach grew from my experiences teaching, and the belief that there is a need to prepare musicians as a whole for the challenges they face as arts professionals, not just as players. In the business world, employee development through coaching is an established method of increasing performance and employee wellbeing and I believe that supporting arts professionals in a similar way enables a higher level of performance and facilitates personal and professional growth and development.

Most of my clients are from the arts world; I have worked with musicians, leaders and principals from various different orchestras, and many students and staff from music conservatoires.

Transitioning from music student to professional musician

The transition from training to earning a living can be scary and turbulent. In the pursuit of a performing career, early-career optimism can fade with the inherent difficulties: finding a way to break in, tension between the individual and fitting into groups, performance and evaluation anxieties, irregular hours, unpredictable schedules and the need to pay the bills. These are all issues clients have brought to coaching with me.

When the support of full-time education is no longer available it can feel isolating and difficult. I can help you make the transition more smoothly, and provide the support that you need in order to find your path. Coaching is about providing the time and space to find your place in the professional world, whatever that looks like. Through giving you a rare opportunity to stop and reflect, you can start to let go of who you think you ought to be or have unconsciously slid into being, and be empowered to make mindful choices going forward with confidence in yourself.

I have always had particular interest in working with early-career musicians and students transitioning to the professional world. Whilst at the RWCMD I ran a series of seminars called "Knowing who you are: psychological, emotional and social skills for curating, surviving and thriving in a sustainable music career" – a research-based programme which facilitated the learning of psychological, emotional and social skills necessary to succeeding in the music world. Aimed at groups of early-career musicians, I am now working with Matthew Jones to expand these seminars into an online course – please click here for more information.

Testimonials

“Lowri comes highly recommended as a first-class coach. Her patient, kind and straight-talking approach has really helped me find empowerment and balance in my life at a time when I felt very out of control. She has excellent communication skills and a good pool of resources that offer many useful insights; I’ve gained so much clarity on who I am and what I want.

Above all, Lowri has helped me identify the things in life that I most value and helped me to better understand how I can live and behave in a way that aligns with these values. If you’re looking for a coach who can help you to overcome the roadblocks that are holding you back from reaching your potential, Lowri is the coach for you.”

“Entering the industry as a young professional can feel overwhelming, but working with Lowri has made that transition so much more manageable and rewarding.

As a professional musician, I’ve found her coaching to be genuinely transformative. The process can be eye-opening and even a little exposing at times, but that’s very much part of the positive change — it’s what allows real growth to happen.

Her support has not only helped me prepare for auditions with clarity and confidence, but also shifted the way I view my own self-worth and potential as an artist. She has a rare ability to combine insightful, practical advice with deeply supportive guidance, creating a space where I’ve been able to grow both personally and professionally. I always leave our sessions feeling energised and uplifted — and people around me have even commented on the positive change in my attitude and overall demeanour afterwards.

Lowri’s sessions leave me feeling focused, grounded, and ready to perform at my best, and I cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone looking to take their career to the next level. She isn’t just a coach — she’s a true mentor and someone I know I can always turn to for guidance, support, and encouragement.”

“I’ve spent my twenties navigating the ups and downs of freelance life. Lowri was recommended to me at a time when I was lacking confidence, confused about my direction and generally unsure of how to proceed with my career. We calmly worked through some of the beliefs and ideas that were holding me back, which ultimately helped me to reclaim my agency and move forward with more self-belief and confidence. Her approach was grounded, pragmatic and supportive - exactly what I needed at the time.

I can wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic coach!”
